Few tricks that could help improve your life

Food is sooooo delicious and soooo yummy! But food isn’t everything. So many factors come into account when living a happy life. Not only that, when your overall life is balanced and gratifying, then nutrition sometimes becomes secondary.
Have you ever wondered, how come some people seem to be constantly eating crappy foods but yet always seem happy and heathy? And the opposite is true as well. Think of those guys who always try and eat the right things, detox all year long but yet, they never seem to reach a happy place?
Food is one aspect of one’s spirit (a very important one, mind you), yet there are so many other facets that make one’s life enjoyable and worth the while. Here are simply a few reminders that could boost the quality of your life:
- Call your best friend or a sibling, tell them you love them. It may have been a while for some…
- Do something differently, anything. Paint a wall pink, join a bridge club, pose for a painting class… Why follow the herd? If everyone’s favorite color was blue, would you make it yours too? Oh, and stop worrying about what everyone else thinks. At the end of the day, most of us are our own worst critics anyways.
- Spend time with your friends’ kids. Learn from them, they live in the moment. They haven’t been bombarded by principles yet, the shoulds and shouldnts of society.
- Be grateful. Be grateful for everything, not just the good occurences. The hardships are the ones that make you stronger. Life goes in waves, sometimes it’s up and sometimes it’s down. It’s the law, learn to accept it. To quote Dr. Bernard Siegel, life with no suffering would mean death. Literally.
- Go to a party/rave. Let loose, you might just feel amazing.
- Next time, leave your umbrella behind on a rainy day. The rain is said to have cleansing abilities.
- Volunteer. You might feel great to give some time for someone other than yourself. (Examples: the YMCA, women’s shelters, fundraising events, etc.)
- Be fearless. You don’t like your job, look for another one. You’re not happy in a relationship, leave it (you know you will eventually, why drag it?). You’ve always wanted to travel, do it. We all think traveling is so expensive, but there are so many alternative ways. Look up travel blogs, work-travel opportunities, join couch surfing. Our biggest limitation is ourselves.
And lastly, love, love and love some more. Love everyone (especially the ones who piss you off..). Love your neighbors, your coworkers, your parents, the weather, and most of all LOVE YOURSELF.
And remember, loving yourself is not selfish-it is selfless, because only when you learn to love yourself can you go towards others and shower them with unconditional love.
